Bizzaro-head / Bridgeman stuff

I haven't touched this stuff since June, so I'm rusty at it. Plus, I've never really got my brain wrapped around this much to begin with. If anyone has any critiques or advice, I'd appreciate it!

New Caricature Site Update

Hello World,

I wanted to create a post letting you all know that I have launched my new caricature website. I have quite a few new sketches on there, but I still have more to come. Check it out and if you see any errors or bugs, let me know so that I can fix them before too many people in the general public stop by.

Coby at that big easel in the sky "challenge"

I just found out moments ago that our good friend Coby Castro has passed away. Coby was a great person with a huge heart as im sure you all have had a chance to experience. This news comes after only a few days of texting him and wondering where he was so i could visit. Usually hes quick to respond and since he had been in the hospital i thought that he might have just been away from his phone. I will miss his presence at lego and his awesome ball point sketches! There will be a get together at his home on the 21st from 1-4 and from what i understand from his mother all who knew him are welcome. man, i still cant believe it. he was a good guy to know and have as a friend.
this next purgatory challenge (sorry for the hiatus) will be a tribute to Coby. create something that makes you think of him or anything that his memory inspires you to do. and if you can, bring the original to the gathering as an offering to his family. on your post say a few things about Cobes if youd like. I am still rather shocked and speechless so forgive me if i dont do this tribute post justice. all i know is Coby deserved peace from his pain and he now has it and i am at least thankful for that. Enjoy your new life free of pain and over priced art supplies Coby.

Behold! The child of Ricardo and Taylor. This is kind of like those "what if they mated" spoofs they do on Conan O'Brien. Wierd...

I decided to warm-up today by drawing the most handsome brothers known to man. Jose turned out OK, but Ricardo's head is sort of separated from his massive dentures.

Its been a while since I have posted here. This one is an attempt to draw Wendy from life. There are some things off (as always), which sucks because she did an excellent job of posing. It took about an hour...maybe a bit more. Anyway...hope all is well with everybody...and happy holidays!

Olde Tyme Sketches

These drawlings are from the tymes of yore. Specifically, 2 some odd years ago from my lil' sketch book. I used to be into the whole Dungeons and Dragons table top game thingies and this was the result from all of that...except for the colored one. That was a Prisma marker test run.

Fighter

Uh... This dude has 4 arms, yeah I know they're hard to see, but they all serve a purpose. The two on the outside are build for strength and power, to punch and grab and throw around and shit. While the inside ones are to like block and give quick jabs. That's why they're smaller but have big forearms. Red aye for seeing better, dark face so that when he moves his head it disappears into a blur, and the tan and leopard spots are purely aesthetic.

Even "Miss 1990" gets to participate in the 80s Cartoon Challenge!

80s
Okay so I think I'm the only one in this club who was born in the 90s...
That makes me cool, right?
Just kidding...
So I loved My Little Pony as a kid, what little girl didn't? It's the quintessential little girl show: ponies, flowers, bright colors, magic...
Okay... so the last actual birthday party I had, which was my 14th, was My Little Pony themed. Because I NEVER got that REAL pony I always wanted.
Anywho, this is Tofu Sparkle Tutti Pie [with a block of steaming tofu tattooed to her ass!], angrily consuming flowers like a good vegetarian.
I wanted to add more maimed flowers, trying to piece together their broken bodies, entrails streaming out...
AND I wanted to do a nice, kind of detailed background...
But I am done with this. I've gotten pretty sick of it.

80's Cartoons - Transformers: Prime

Man I can barely remember the 80's.....

My Very Very Very Late Femme Fatale-ish Thing

So here it is.
Yes, sloppy line work. It's all crazy and uneven and weird. Oh well! This is my first Photoshop inking-and-coloring endeavor... and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I would love to do more detail, make her costume more embellished and all that jazz, but I'm done with it for now.
I think I should try to do some other stuff... very, very slowly and steadily, of course. Because that's just how I work.

*Jem! Trooly Outrageous!!!!

I liked watching Jem as a little one. I always wanted those earrings of hers to make awesome holograms, lawd noes how useful those lil' thangs would be to me...
Anywhoo, I used Prisma markers for colour and Copics for the outline. Since I do not have a scanner, I took a picha of it and spruced it up some bits in Photoshop 7. (*whisperwhisper* I did little sparkles on her earrings...)

Comic Connies

This is my (Taylor's) take on the last challenge. There's parts I like about this piece and parts I'll do differently on my next projects. One thing I'm learning though is that using acrylic ink instead of marker before you bring it to the computer really helps make the blacks "pop." I used a brush to ink this and colored it in Photoshop. Hope you guys like it.

I totally forgot the lip ring...my bad. Hey Miranda, I need the one you did of me!

UNJECT

CLICK THE POSTER TO WATCH

About Unject:
Unject is the animated tale of the epic battle between Ronald McDonald and Michael Jackson, culminating in a crescendo of brutal violence unlike anything ever seen on this earth before and forever after.

Animated over the course of Six-hundred and Sixty-six days in a secret underground bunker in North Korea, the film-maker was driven to extreme measures in order to bring Unject into being, including recycling his own urine and covering himself in mud so that Predator couldn't see him.

Proceeds from this picture - if any - will be donated to the Satanic Order of Communistic Nazi and Otherwise Extraordinary Gentlemen, or SACNOEG.

Piss off.

Blee

Well...here is a first attempt...I feel a little rusty at caricatures...funny to say that huh? I don't consider the work I do at legoland or any other retail caricature opperation to be benificial...there are rare exceptions to the rule, but for the most part its mindless. That may be a poor attitude, but after 8 years, you tend to get sick of the same shit as far as customers go (or at least I am)...the difference here at legoland is that we are not allowed to draw while on the job, there is no way for me to stay connected to the feeling of valid art, so you forget...accept when I am at home, and by then I am tired as fuck. This results in poor drawings. So, I am going to make more of an effort at the park and outside...even though it seems hopeless to the masses...especially in California for some reason...

Anyway, sorry for the rant...enjoy!

Star Wars

Inspired by Clone Wars...the animated series.

Ninja Gaiden

When I was a kid, I used to pretend I was a ninja and run around my neighborhood with a ninja outfit and plastic sword all the time...and it was because of this game (and American Ninja 1,2, and 3)...ninjas rule.

Feme Fatale - And other CRAP.....

Shit....Finally posting something here. I actually have a lot of pin-up girls and feme fatales sketches sitting around here.....sketchbooks full of them.....which I draw cause they make me feel less depressed ...... so since I'm still at fucking Blockoland (what a shit hole) I draw a lot of them......

This is a caricature of my friend Sarafina, she always modeling as a pin-up girl at classes at the Academy. Slowly I feel my caricatures are coming along, though line quality is still my enemy....not to mention good exaggeration of features. But since it looks I'm going to be at Blockoland for a while I guess I'm going to get to practice some more.....unless I get hit by one of those fucking plastic bricks at work.......if I were only so lucky.
Here's an old feme fatale from a project at school, one of my finished designs. In the end the design was never used.....but I got numerous pics of her......

Struggling Hard

Alright...so here is an attempted portrait of Marko. I did a 20-30 minute study from life and then spent about an 1-1.5 hours bringing it to a finish on my own. It ended up looking more like a cross between Marko and Pee Wee Herman...both of which are over idealized. I think the chin and neck are too big, the back of the skull needs more mass, and the features are still too platonic. That is one thing that I am really struggling with. I keep on hearing people say that my rendering is good...but to me, it looks to perfect and not natural enough to the light. I also think the features may have drifted a bit from the original structure I had designed. I guess it just goes to show how little I still know. I remember instructors in the past telling me to study Vanderpol (sp) for rendering features more believable...guess I need more work. Anyway...sorry Marko.

Monkey Robot #1

This is my take on the organic mechanical challenge. Its not really done, I'm still coloring it but its been a while so I thought I'd post something. Its was also a class assignment so that's why its a 3 view. I liked but like always it could be better.
